ENEA Wytwarzanie upgrades 500 MW power units
Two 560 MW power units in Kozienice Power Plant are being upgraded. These are activities of ENEA Wytwarzanie aimed at generation units efficiency improvement and compliance with the requirements of IED directive and BAT conclusions.
The ongoing modernization is to improve efficiency of electricity generation and conform generation units to the environmental requirements of IED directive regarding nitric oxide emission, by the SCR installation of catalytic flue gas denitrification.
The works at unit No. 10 (which was synchronized with the National Power System in May 2018) were accomplished as a part of the upgrade.
- The final outcome of the upgrade is the improvement of generation efficiency, higher capacity of the turbine set, and by the SCR installation of catalytic flue gas denitrification also improvement of environmental standards – emphasizes Antoni Józwowicz, the CEO of ENEA Wytwarzanie.
Advanced upgrade process in the unit No. 9 is underway. The range of works encompasses upgrade of major generation equipment in the mechanical, electric, automatic and steering and construction areas. The upgrade of the turbine set is led by GE Power.
Due to unexpected additional works not predicted in the original contract, which were recognized after the beginning of the upgrade, commissioning of the modernized unit No. 9 has to be postponed. ENEA Wytwarzanie and the general contractor – GE Power are negotiating the annex to the contract regarding its timing. Previously set date for the launch of modernized unit No. 9 was the end of January 2019.
The change of commissioning date of the modernized unit No. 9 will have no effect on ENEA Wytwarzenie’s generation volume plans in 2019, which in assumptions should be higher than this year.
500 MW power units upgrade fits into ENEA Group’s policy regarding the adaptation of generation units to the IED directive and BAT conclusions environmental requirements. This is the part of the plan, which assumes the improvement of the generation efficiency, Group’s capacity enhancement alongside with reduction of emissions.
