Enea Operator continues to develop the Live Line Working technology while sharing its years-long experience with others
The overarching objective of Enea Operator is to secure continued supplies of electricity to all Customers. Keeping interruptions to the minimum has been made possible thanks to, amongst others, the use of the Live Line Working (LLW) technology, which allows the company to perform repairs and maintenance works while the lines remain energized, thus continuously supplying energy to the Customers.
Due to the specific character of their operation, power grids require regular maintenance, modernisation and investment in order to ensure the best possible condition of the grid, as well as to continuously develop and modernise it by applying the latest technical standards.
Enea Operator has been using the LLW technology for over 10 years. In 2017, almost 75% of all planned works on low- and medium-voltage power equipment were conducted without cutting off supplies to the Customers. Over the last 7 years, the number of works performed with this technology has increased by 73%, and in the last two years nearly 90% of works on low-voltage lines were done “live”. Since 2016, Live Line Working technology has been successfully applied also for works on medium-voltage overhead lines.
– Over the years, our team of instructors from the Live Line Working Office has gained huge professional experience in this field, along with the know-how required for conducting both practical and theoretical workshops. Consequently, we are now able to provide LLW training to external companies – said Grzegorz Geruzel, Head of the Live Line Working Office at Enea Operator.
Moreover, Enea Operator has its own state-of-the-art covered training ground, where practical workshops can be held also in unfavourable weather conditions. Enea instructors run training sessions on both low-voltage lines and on medium-voltage power equipment.
