Enea continues rapid development of renewable energy capacity and acquires 83.2 MW wind farm from the Greenvolt Group

Enea Group continues its expansion in the renewable energy sector. Enea Nowa Energia, a Group company, has completed the acquisition of a wind farm with a total capacity of 83.2 MW located in the Pelplin township (Pomeranian voivodship) from Greenvolt Power. The project includes 16 wind turbines of 5.2 MW each and a substation. The value of the transaction exceeds PLN 740 million. This important agreement in the Polish renewable energy sector has been signed by Greenvolt Power, a leading developer of large-scale renewable energy projects in Poland, and the Enea Group, one of the leaders in the Polish electricity market in terms of power generation.

The Pelplin wind farm consists of 16 state-of-the-art wind turbines of 5.2 MW each, manufactured by Siemens Gamesa, one of the world leaders in wind technology. The total installed capacity of the project is 83.2 MW. The project also includes its own substation (GPZ), which ensures direct connection to the grid. The wind farm is located approximately 50 kilometers from the Baltic Sea coast, which ensures very good wind conditions and as a result - high efficiency of wind power generation.

The project is in line with the assumptions of the Enea Group’s Development Strategy until 2035, which calls for rapid growth of installed renewable energy capacity. The project in the Pelplin municipality is another step towards achieving the stated target of more than 4.9 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2035.

“We see the energy transition as an opportunity not only for the development of the Enea Group, but also for increasing Poland’s energy security and improving the quality of life of current and future generations. Our development strategy until 2035 is a response to the rapidly changing market and social environment. We are committed to green energy, innovation and modern technologies, which will allow us to become a more flexible and modern energy company. Investing in wind farms like the one in Pelplin, is the right step towards achieving our goals of increasing installed RES capacity, diversifying the energy mix and creating value for our customers, shareholders and the public at large”, said Grzegorz Kinelski, President of the Enea Management Board.

Until 2035, the Enea Group will invest nearly PLN 107.5 billion to achieve its strategic goals, with the largest share going to the development of renewable energy, energy storage and the modernization of distribution grids.

-“The acquisition of the wind farm in Pelplin is a strategic step in the implementation of our development vision. This investment is fully in line with our commitment to develop sustainable, green energy sources, which are the foundation of our long-term strategy. The wind farm acquired from Greenvolt Power is a valuable element in our portfolio of renewable energy projects, supporting the development of the renewable energy sector in Poland and strengthening Enea’s role in the transition of the domestic energy market,”- said Bartosz Krysta, Enea’s Vice-President of the Management Board for Commercial Affairs.

Greenvolt Power is a leading developer of large-scale wind, photovoltaic and energy storage projects.

-“The Pelplin Wind Farm is a clear demonstration of our ability to develop industrial scale renewable energy assets that are attractive and valued by the market. The interest shown by Enea Nowa Energia and the successful conclusion of this contract confirms this and is in line with our strategy to sell a significant part of our portfolio at the RtB or COD stage, depending on where the greatest value can be generated,” said João Manso Neto, CEO of the Greenvolt Group.

Construction of the Pelplin Wind Farm started in June 2023. The investment was completed on schedule in December 2024. The farm has a key position in the context of RES facilities due to its connection to an important grid node (PSE Pelplin Substation - 400/110 kV “Pelplin”), which is one of the critical power supply sources in the northern part of Poland.

“The entire process of implementing the Pelplin project demonstrates our competence and ability to implement and deliver solutions, which supports our strong position on the Polish market as a key player in the development of renewable energy sources. Pelplin is a clear example of an investment designed from the outset for maximum efficiency and the highest standards,” added Radek Nowak, CEO Greenvolt Power.

In the Utility-Scale segment, the Greenvolt Group has a portfolio of 10.9 GW of capacity in 17 countries with a strategy to sell 70–80% projects after RtB or COD. The Group’s portfolio in Poland includes 706 MW of wind power, 1581 MW of solar power and 1760 MW of energy storage, positioning it as one of the leading developers in the European renewable energy sector.

Greenvolt has established a strong position in Poland with almost 18 years of experience through its current company Greenvolt Power. Last year, the group also launched Greenvolt Next Polska to provide renewable energy solutions for self-consumption, energy efficiency, solar energy storage and electric mobility in the B2B market.
