Enea Operator has extended a power station in Kostrzyn nad Odrą, strategic for the development of the economic zone

Enea Operator has completed a several-stage reconstruction of the Transformer/switching station (GPZ), which guarantees energy supplies to Customers operating in the Kostrzyn-Słubice Special Economic Zone (KSSSE). The investment is the response of Enea Operator to the dynamic economic development of the cross-border zone, which translates into the need to connect new entities to the network and the demand for power increasing for several years.

The decision to thoroughly modernise Kostrzyn GPZ resulted from large increases in connection capacity in the Kostrzyn-Słubice Special Economic Zone. The first stages of the expansion were commenced in 2001 and consisted of, among others, the installation of another, third transformer with the power of 16 MVA (Megavolt Ampere). In connection with the development of KSSSE in 2008, the transformer was replaced with a larger unit with a capacity of 25 MVA. The next stages of the reconstruction related directly to the implementation of connection agreements for large electricity Customers, including those connected at high voltage of 110 kV.

The capital expenditures incurred for the further modernisation and expansion of the station since 2013 total over PLN 22 million. The last stage, which included the reconstruction of the high voltage switchgear for the two-system scheme, replacement of the medium voltage 15 kV switchgear and reconstruction of the 6 kV switchgear was completed at the end of 2017, and was carried out by Mega-Pol S.A.

- The efficient reconstruction and adaptation of Kostrzyn GPZ to the growing demand for power related to the development of the Kostrzyn-Słubice Special Economic Zone would not be possible without a good cooperation with the local government authorities. I would like to thank all the local government officials, the City Office of Kostrzyn nad Odrą and the Poviat Starosty in Gorzów Wielkopolski - said Andrzej Kojro, president of Enea Operator, during the opening. President Kojro added that thanks to the reconstruction of the station, Enea Operator increased its energy security in the region and is ready to connect new Customers.

The Kostrzyn GPZ station has been rebuilt using the latest technical solutions that meet the highest technological standards. The investment will ensure reliability and minimise the number of necessary operations.

The construction works were carried out in difficult conditions, because the station performed the supply of electricity to existing Customers at all times.
