PKP CARGO with a large contract for coal transports for Enea Group
PKP CARGO concluded another important agreement for coal transports for Enea Wytwarzanie. The greatest Polish carrier submitted the most favourable offer in the tender procedure for transport of the said fuel from Lubelski Węgiel “Bogdanka” to Kozienice Power Plant. As part of that contract PKP CARGO will transport 5.3 mln tonnes of coal during 14 months.
The contract is a continuation a long cooperation of PKP CARGO with Enea Wytwarzanie. The largest Polish operator has already performed and is performing coal transports for Enea Group to Kozienice Power Plant, both from Lubelski Węgiel “Bogdanka”, and also from several Silesian mines.
– We are satisfied that our next offer submitted for transports of coal to Enea Group proved the most favourable, even more so since the tender was quite unusual and foresaw performance of transports in the circumstances that some sections of railway lines modernised by PKP PLK in Jaszczów – Świerże Górne relation are closed. Thus the offer includes also additional costs of the carrier resulting from the need to make traffic diversions - said Grzegorz Fingas, member of the board of PKP CARGO for commercial issues.
– Continuation of the cooperation with Enea confirms the quality of our services and market experience and also the fact that our business partners in the power sector may always rely on us. PKP CARGO is a reliable long partner who guarantees continuity of supplies to Kozienice Power Plant - underlines Maciej Libiszewski, president of PKP CARGO.
Enea Group signed the agreement through the representatives of Enea Trading, a company responsible in the Group for guaranteeing continuity of fuel supplies, logistic services and conducting tender offers for supplies of fuels and logistic services for Enea Group’s generation assets.
- We are satisfied with the result of the tender proceudre and conclusion of the contract with PKP Cargo. Due to the modernisation of the standard railway route from LW Bogdanka, the coal delivery rout to Kozienice Power Plant was changed. PKP Cargo proposed the best solution which allows us to optimise costs related to the fuel transport with a concurrent maintenance of the highest standard of services and continuity of supplies – said Dawid Klimczak, president of Enea Trading.
Coal transports within the contract won by PKP CARGO will cover the new, longer way on line 30. Transports will be performed in block trains weighing min. 2,300 tonnes net, in gondola cars of normal construction.
Two contracts are underway which were concluded in 2016 by PKP CARGO with Enea Wytwarzanie. One for coal transports from Lubelski Węgiel “Bogdanka” to Kozienice Power Plant. Another - for coal transports to that power plant from Silesian mines. Both for the total weight of 6.3 mln tonnes of that commodity.
