Enea Połaniec – Enea Group’s new company

 
Enea Elektrownia Połaniec (Enea Połaniec) is the new name of the company managing Połaniec Power Plant which Enea bought from the French ENGIE. After the transaction closing, Enea commences the process of incorporation of Połaniec under the innovative raw materials and energy concern. Operation of Połaniec Power Plant in the Group’s structures will allow to realise synergies based on Kozienice-Bogdanka-Połaniec mining and generation area. On Wednesday, Enea summed up the transaction during the press conference in Warsaw which was attended by Krzysztof Tchórzewski, the minister of energy.

– The acquisition of Połaniec Power Plant by Enea Group will contribute to the enhancement of the energy security and reliability of supplies to end users.   It also constitutes a part of the company’s new development strategy implementation – said Krzysztof Tchórzewski, minister of energy.

– I would like to congratulate all the teams engaged in this transaction which is very important for Poland. Due to the takeover of Połaniec, Enea becomes the vice-leader on the electricity market in Poland – added minister Tchórzewski.

Połaniec Power Plant is one of the younger system power plants in Poland and the biggest object of this type in south-east Poland. Enea obtained, for ca. PLN 1.26 billion, an important system power plant, which during the recent years has undergone a ca. 1.5 billion worth of an intensive modernisation programme. Eight power units operate in Połaniec with the total capacity of 1.9 GW.

– The investment is in line with our Development Strategy and confirms an important role Enea has in building Polish energy security and is a part of the national energy policy. Enea Połaniec becomes an important part of our Group. An experienced team from Połaniec joined around 15 thou. specialists working in Enea in the whole of Poland. From now on, for the next numerous years, already with the Employees of Enea Połaniec, we will build an innovative raw materials and energy concerns – underlined Mirosław Kowalik, president of Enea.

– The main objective of Połaniec Power Plant for the next several years will be  taking a full benefit of the generation potential. The power plant satisfies all the environmental standards in force and is adjusted to the requirements of IED directive. In relation to the scheduled entry into force of BAT conclusions we are planning to perform a detailed analysis of the scope of the investment, but now we will focus on the operating integration of Połaniec with Enea Grouppresident Kowalik.

During the next weeks Enea Połaniec will formally join Enea Group. Already now the evolutionary process of the company’s integration with the Group commences. The procedures and rules in force in Enea will be implemented in Połaniec Power Plant. Due to that the Group will be able to commence taking advantage of synergies derived from the investment and the establishment of Kozienice-Bogdanka-Połaniec mining and generation area.

Now, Kozienice and Połaniec, the two system power plants belonging to Enea, will have a common trading team and joint portfolio management. A more efficient management of the raw materials logistics in Kozienice-Bogdanka-Połaniec area and common purchases of biomass for Białystok Heat and Power Plant and Połaniec Power Plant will be a benefit for the Group as well. The cost- and operation-effective area, based on its own raw material, will also strengthen the Polish energy security and reliability of supplies of energy to Enea’s Customers. It will also bring positive results for the regional community.

Incorporation of Połaniec Power Plant under the Polish raw materials and energy concern is strengthening the position of one of the most important employers in the region. Enea, as a socially responsible business, engages and supports local societies, and also sports and culture. Enea is also planning a social engagement in the area of Połaniec related to the youth sports activity. With cooperation with Stal Mielec club Enea Cup Regional Youth League in volleyball will be organised. It will constitute one of the flights of “Enea Sports Academy” programme  successfully implemented by Enea.
