Enea Oświetlenie installed the first smart street LED lighting in Mieścisko

Enea Oświetlenie constructed the first installation of smart street LED lighting in Mieścisko. The modern system steers the lights on the pedestrian and cycle lane so that the light follows a pedestrian or cyclist. Due to the new solution, the safety and comfort of citizens will improve and the municipality will save on fees for electricity.

The investment designed and performed by Enea Oświetlenie is the result of a close cooperation of the company with Mieścisko municipality. It is the first installation of this type on the territory serviced by Enea Oświetlenie, which covers the north-western area of Poland.

The new lighting installation, of the length of ca. 850 m, is located at Wągrowiecka street. Along the pedestrian and cycle lane the company installed 24 modern and energy-saving 19W light fixtures equipped with the so-called autonomous smart light steering system.

- Smart steering makes the lamps light with full power in appropriate places only when it is necessary, i.e. when there is movement on the lane. During other times, the level of lighting is adjusted to minimum requirements ensuring safety. In such moments the fixtures light with the power of ca. 40 per cent and consume less energy - says Mariusz Kądziołka, president of EneaOświetlenie.

- This is the first lighting of this type on our territory. We are thinking about next realisations - adds Mariusz Kądziołka.

For an efficient lighting management, during design works, the installation was divided into sections, the so called sectors. Based on the analysis of the traffic on the lane 16 node points were specified which steer the lighting of respective sectors. LED lamps in node points are equipped with movement sensors. When there is movement a remote signal is sent which wakes next fixtures and lights the closest area - the light goes along with a cyclist or pedestrian.

High quality LED lamps give white, natural light and guarantee an even lighting of the lane. 5-metre poles affect the angle of light spreading - in the result an excessive “light pollution” of the vicinity was avoided.

– Using a smart system based on energy-efficient lights results in savings on costs of electricity and lighting maintenance incurred by the Municipality. A high quality of the new lighting guarantees also its lower failure rate, which will significantly affect the reduction of costs of operation - mentions president Mariusz Kądziołka.

The construction of the lane was commenced on 16 March 2016; the lighting is presently operating and delivery works are in progress.

The investment in Mieścisko constitutes a part of works during which Enea Oświetlenie, in ESCO formula, modernised the lighting in 25 locations on the Municipality’s territory. A total of 780 modern, energy-saving LED fixtures were installed. The summing up of the project was a meeting organised by the Mayor of Mieścisko Municipality. Around 20 self-government representatives from neighbouring municipalities took part in it. Mieścisko Municipality and Enea Oświetlenie presented the technological and economic effects of the lighting modernisation.

ESCO formula means that the investment cost was fully incurred by Enea Oświetlenie and the installation is repaid from savings resulting from energy and lighting operation fees.
