Limitations in electricity supplies to companies

Due to persistent high temperatures and limitations relating to the production of electricity, Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne introduced limitations in energy supplies. They also relate to the north-western area of Poland in which energy is supplied by Enea Operator. Limitations will not apply to individual customers but only to large production enterprises consuming the most power. They are obliged to reduce their consumption. Limitations apply from 10.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m.

The reason for the decision made by PSE are heats lasting for many days which unfavourably affect power plants and power grids. A low level and high temperature of waters in rivers result in the reduction of cooling system performance in conventional power plants, the consequence of which is reduced electricity production. The disadvantageous condition affects also renewable energy sources. Low levels of waters and no wind result, despite the renewable sources have a total capacity of around 1,000 MW on the area of Enea Operator's operations, in the fact that their existing efficiency amounts to just ca. 2-5%.

Any introduced limitations depend on the decisions made by Polskie Sieci Energetyczne. Large production plants are obliged to observe the limitations, which follows from the Energy Law and agreements for the provision of distribution services. Recipients covered with the limitations will be informed on any potential new decisions of the Operator of the transmission system on an ongoing basis.

Introduced limitations do not apply to individual Customers. However, due to the situation, Enea Operator joins the request of PSE to limit the energy consumption by each recipient in the near future.
