The President on the construction site of Enea's new power unit in Kozienice

President Bronisław Komorowski visited the site of the most advanced construction in the Polish energy sector. On Thursday morning, the President visited Kozienice where a bituminous coal fired 1,075 MW power unit which is the most modern in Europe is being constructed. He met employees of Enea and companies performing construction works, and also representatives of the local government.

Włodzimierz Karpiński, the Minister of Treasury, assisted President Bronisław Komorowski.

- This investment is an interesting local and Polish perspective of a strategic importance. It is related to energy safety guarantee for our whole country. It is also important that the power plant uses Polish coal. It is another benefit for all. From now on, switching on the light in Belvedere I will always have warm feeling about this visit to Enea - said President Bronisław Komorowski.

Minister Włodzimierz Karpiński emphasised that Enea is constructing the most modern unit of this type in Europe, and works are already almost in the middle and are performed on schedule. He added that our country is implementing the investment in the energy sector on an unprecedented scale. He thanked all the engaged people for the everyday work.

- Due to realised investments Polish energy companies develop a coherent system of extraction, generation and distribution of electricity, guaranteeing energy security of the state at the same time. Expenditures of state owned companies on investments in the energy sector will amount to over PLN 100 billion until 2020. Works progress on schedule. I will remind that in 2014 the capital expenditures of energy companies as supervised by the Minister of Treasury increased by over 100 percent as compared to 2013 - said Włodzimierz Karpiński.

Krzyszof Zamasz, the host of the meeting, president of Enea, underlines that the investment is the result of the whole Group's works.

- It will be the largest power unit of this type in the whole Europe. It will comply with all the strictest ecological standards. Our task, as a modern, innovative company, is a continuous enhancement of the Polish energy security. We are doing it thanks to the engagement of many people and courtesy of the majority shareholder and local communities, in which we operate - said the president of Enea.
