ENEA Group gets listed on ICE Futures Europe
ENEA Trading, responsible for wholesale trading in the Group, has just become a member of the international commodity exchange, ICE Futures Europe. ICE Futures Europe is one of the largest power exchanges in Europe. Transactions concluded there include mostly those for oil, gas, coal and allowances for emissions of CO2.
Membership in the exchange enables not only a direct access to the most liquid European market of allowances for emissions of CO2, but also making considerable savings. Pursuant to the corporate strategy of ENEA, cost optimisation of hedging activities implemented e.g. through commencing trading operations on ICE is one of the key goals of the Group within wholesale trading.
"We have concentrated all the functions connected with wholesale trade, portfolio management and electricity balance in the Group in one entity, including also purchases of coal, allowances for emissions of CO2, currencies and proprietary interests. We have been constantly developing within this area, hence e.g. new origination products for the needs of our Customers and preparation to participate in the international energy markets. Membership in ICE is a part of this plan of consistent development of modern trading and of the Group's corporate strategy" – says Grzegorz Kinelski, Vice-President of the Board of ENEA S.A. for Commercial Affairs.
Becoming a Member of ICE exchange was preceded with the conclusion of an agreement with the clearing bank and joining the British transaction repository, DTCC.
