Polimex-Mostostal and Hitachi Power Europe consortium won the tender for the construction of a new unit in Kozienice
The winner in the tender for the construction of a new supercritical power unit with the capacity of up to 1,000 MW was selected. Polimex-Mostostal and Hitachi Power Europe consortium won with its competitor - China National Electric Engineering Co. Ltd. with China Overseas Engineering Group Co. Ltd. consortium. The winner gained 97.716 pints in the tender procedure and the Chinese consortium got 92.063.
- The offer which won was technically the best, and the best as to the unit's efficiency and capacity - says Krzysztof Zborowski, the President of Enea Wytwarzanie S.A.
The unit construction will last for around 5 years and the unit will be the most modern bituminous coal fired unit in Poland and Europe. It will increase the generating capacity in Kozienice by around 1,000 MW that is by 1/3. The Power Plant's capacity will reach almost 4,000 MW. The unit may be equipped in the future with the carbon capture and storage installation.
- Construction of the unit poses a great chance for our power plant. Our country needs additional megawatts. Investments in additional capacities are necessary for us as well both because of the energetic balance and replacement of generating capacities - convinces Krzysztof Zborowski.
The new unit is to commence operation in 2017. This is the first investment realised by ENEA Wytwarzanie S.A. On 25 May 2012 the District Court for the capital city of Warsaw entered ENEA Wytwarzanie S.A. into the National Court Register which took the place of Elektrownia "Kozienice" S.A. The company will deal with generation of electricity and heat in the whole group.
- I believe that the commenced changes will generate a leading position of the Company within generation of electricity in Poland and will impact the growth in the prestige of companies which will comprise Enea Wytwarzanie - says Krzysztof Zborowski, the President of ENEA Wytwarzanie S.A.
The company will compose of: Elektrownia "Kozienice” S.A., Elektrocieplownia Bialystok, over twenty hydroelectric plants, two city heat plant, two wind farms and two biogas plants.
