The Group also realised key investments and acquisitions, including the acquisition of the Bialystok Heat and Power Plant and numerous projects connected with renewable energy sources.
Apart from the record level of revenues, the ENEA CG noted improvement of the other economic indicators. The net result rose even more, i.e. 24.0 per cent, which reached the level of PLN 792.5 mln. Comparing to the precedent year, the Group's operating result substantially increased - it was higher by 18.6 per cent and amounted to PLN 844.2 mln. The published results confirm the strong position of the Group in the Polish energy sector. In the whole 2011 the EBITDA indicator rose by 14.0 per cent and amounted to PLN 1.56 bln.
The greatest increase was noted in the segment of Generation since it grew by 25.3 per cent from the level of PLN 2.5 bln generated in 2010. Higher profits were generated by ENEA also in the segment of the other activity.
The good financial standing of the Company is confirmed with the assessment made by external experts. In April 2012 the Fitch Ratings agency in their announcement confirmed the long term rating opinion issued for ENEA S.A. on the present level of BBB on the international scale and A level on the domestic scale. Such a high rating is a proof of confidence of financial markets in the Company and its investment plans. This is especially important in the context of realisation of the planned investment connected with the construction of a new power unit in Kozienice with the capacity of 1,000 MW which will commence this year.
Apart from the construction of the power unit the ENEA CG is also realising investments within other fields. Already in 2011 the key areas have undergone substantial development. The process of acquisition of the Bialystok Heat and Power Plant was completed and ENEA presently holds almost 100.00 per cent of its shares. Within the realisation of the strategy concerning green energy ENEA purchased a wind farm in Darzyno with the capacity of 6 MW and signed a preliminary contract of purchase of a constructed wind farm in Bardy with the capacity of 50 MW (with a possibility of being extended to 60 MW). The contract was finalised in April this year. ENEA has also commenced the construction of a biogas plant with the capacity of 1.6 MW and during the whole 2012 it wants to increase the capacities in this segment by 5.6 MW. Another, twenty first water turbine plant was opened on the Welna River with the capacity of 330 kW.
