21 Good Practices of ENEA Group in the Responsible Business Forum Report

As many as 21 good practices of ENEA Group are featured in another edition of the Report of the Responsible Business Forum – “Responsible Business in Poland. Good Practices”. It is the largest cyclic review in Poland of activities and actions conducted by socially responsible businesses. ENEA Group’s CSR activities and good practices have been described in the Report since 2011.

The sixteenth edition of the report includes descriptions of nearly 1,200 practices of 177 companies which implemented their actions in 2017 and provides a summary of the major issues related to responsible business in Poland. The latest edition lists 21 good practices of ENEA Group. It is a very significant increase compared to the last year, as the previous edition recognised 6 projects and CSR activities of the Group.

Such a large number of recognised projects of ENEA Group is first and foremost a result of our employees’ involvement. They understand the needs of their local communities and immediate surroundings and therefore put forward educational, charitable or environmental ideas and get involved in their implementation, for which I would like to thank them warmly, explained Joanna Sobótka, manager of ENEA Corporate Social Responsibility Bureau.

In the report, companies’ activities are grouped according to the seven core subjects of ISO Standard 26000: organisational governance; human rights; labour practices; environment; fair operating practices; consumer issues, and community involvement and development. The initiatives of ENEA Group are classified as good practices not only in the most popular subjects, such as community involvement, but also in organisational governance, labour, and environment.

For years, ENEA has been submitting its projects to this most prominent publication issued by the Responsible Business Forum. The inclusion in the report of a record number of 21 good practices confirms that the policy adopted by ENEA Group to conduct business in a responsible manner achieves the intended results, said Joanna Sobótka.

In terms of community involvement and development, 11 initiatives are recognised: educational project “ENEA Talent Academy”, sports project “ENEA Sports Academy”, preventive campaign “Safe Preschooler Academy” and project “We Care for Your Safety. You Take Care Too” (ENEA Operator is involved in both of them), as well as: “Senior Forum” of ENEA Połaniec, project “Good Energy beyond the Borders”, action to help municipalities affected by August storms, ENEA Trading competition “Energy Market Modelling”, educational lessons conducted as part of competence volunteering programme “Electricity – not so scary”, programme of paid internships and work placements “Get installed at ENEA”, as well as charity “We run – we raise – we help”.

The best environmental initiatives included the Vistula restocking campaign conducted by ENEA Wytwarzanie, local forum “The Environment for a Power Plant, a Power Plant for the Environment”, and environmental competition organised by ENEA Połaniec as well as ENEA Operator activities to protect storks and ospreys.

The featured labour practices included OHS campaign “Our Choice – Safe Work”, ENEA Centrum project “New Energy”, “Generational Shift Programme”, employee volunteering programme, and programme “Power of Help”. Furthermore, ENEA Group’s consistency in sustainable development reporting has been noted.

The publication is available on-line, and this year’s practices are included in the review of practices of the last 16 years, available on the website www.odpowiedzialnybiznes.pl/dobre-praktyki/.
