Modernisation of two units’ turbines in Kozienice Power Plant
Enea Wytwarzanie and EthosEnergy signed an agreement relating to the modernisation of the turbines on units no. 3 and 8 in Kozienice Power Plant. Due to the modernisation the turbine set dynamic state will be improved. The worth of the contract is almost PLN 4.9 million net, and the works are planned to be completed in July 2017.
The goal of the investment is extending the failure-free and safe operation of the turbines and enhancement of the turbine set dynamic state. Within the modernisation of unit no. 3 (225 MW capacity) and no. 8 (228 MW capacity) the last-stage buckets of the turbine will be replaced with new ones. The works cover also inspection of the turbine set elements, including adjusting the line of shafts and overhauls of bearings.
– Conclusion of the contract for modernisation of turbine sets no. 3 and 8 will allow for completing the modernisation process of 200 MW units in Kozienice Power Plant. Implementation by EthosEnergy of the ordered scope of turbine modernisation will enable their further reliable operation. It is extremely important because Kozienice Power Plant is a very crucial source of energy supply for the Public Power System – said Grzegorz Kotte, vice-president for technical issues in Enea Wytwarzanie, adding that: – EthosEnergy is a reliable partner implementing numerous works related to repairs and modernisation of steam turbines and generators in Kozienice Power Plant for many years.
Maciej Wawrzyniak, project management director at EthosEnergy underlines that the conclusion of a contract relating to the modernisation of turbines on units no. 3 and 8 in Enea Wytwarzanie is the continuation of the long cooperation between the companies: – During 2012-2016 EthosEnergy was a contractor for modernising 200 MW units. Due to the application of the latest technical solutions the modernisations allowed for increasing the nominal capacity of turbine sets with a concurrent enhancement of their efficiency. Modernised turbine sets of units no. 1,2,4,5,7,8 in Kozienice Power Plant are the most effective in operation from among all the modernised and repaired 200 MW units operating in the Polish power system – said Maciej Wawrzyniak.
The application of the improved technology of manufacturing new ND 41 buckets as part of the modernisation process of units no. 3 and 8, will allow for a long term improvement in the results of the low-pressure part of the turbines and the unit operation security.
The modernisation of units no. 3 and 8 is a part of recently announced investments in Kozienice Power Plant. At the end of the last year Enea Wytwarzanie and GE Power signed a contract for modernisation of turbine sets on units no. 9 and 10.
