Contract on modernising the flue gases denitrification installation in Kozienice Power Plant signed

Enea Wytwarzanie and GE Power signed a contract for the modernisation of 560 MW turbine sets no. 9 and 10 in Kozienice Power Plant. The value of the contract is PLN 65.5 million net. The investment is planned to be completed in May 2018.

The purpose of the investment is extending the service-life of turbine sets and enhance the efficiency via modernisation of the medium- and low-pressure parts and performing a comprehensive repair of the other elements. As a result of works performed the efficiency of turbine sets will increase and the unit consumption of heat will decrease. The electric power of each unit will increase by at least 4 MW. The dynamic state of turbine sets will be also improved.

- We are expecting greater security and reliability of the modernised systems’ operation. Performed modernisations will allow for a safe and economic operation of turbine sets until the end of the anticipated operation time of 560 MW units – said Krzysztof Figat, president of Enea Wytwarzanie.

The contract includes the modernisation of the medium-pressure part of the turbines by installing new, internal modules and modernisation of the low-pressure part by supplying new, modernised rotating and stationary last-stage buckets.

The concluded contract includes also delivery of new control valves for the high-pressure part of turbines, rebuilding the high- and low-pressure part with remanufacturing of rotors, repair of mechanical and electrical parts of generators and generating systems, and also modernisation of generators’ cooling systems.

- We are proud that GE Power Polska was selected to perform the modernisation of two steam turbines and generators in Kozienice Power Plant. We possess solutions which will help support Polish coal-fired power plants in maintaining a significant role which they will play in the long run in the European energy mix. Our goal is supporting producers wishing to increase the lifetime of energy generating equipment. Enea Wytwarzanie is such a producer – said Robert Butzke, Director of Power Services, Poland and Ukraine.

Modernisation works on unit no. 9 will last until May 2017. Modernisation of unit no. 10  is planned from January to May 2018.
