Another investment for the environment

ENEA Wytwarzanie S.A. and Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, LTD. concluded a contract for the construction of the installation of flue gases denitrification for two units in the power plant in Kozienice. The investment will allow to reduce the nitric oxides emission by 80%. The value of the contract will total to PLN 92 mln and the completion of the investment is planned in May 2016.

The investment anticipates the construction of complete, modern installations of the catalytic denitrogenation of flue gases including the replacement of flue gas ventilators and the modernisation of water heaters for boilers in units No. 1 and 2 which are fired with bituminous coal and biomass. It is one of the elements of broad modernisation works directed at the reduction of emissions of substances obtained as a result of firing.  

We are conducting numerous consistent activities which aim at the minimisation of the impact of the power plant on the environment. We are using the latest techniques and are cooperating with experienced partners. The installation will reduce the emissions to the level of ca. 100 mg/Nm³, i.e. considerably below the EU standards which according to the IED Directive will allow emissions on the level of ca. 200 mg/Nm³ - emphasises Krzysztof Sadowski, President of the Board of ENEA Wytwarzanie S.A.

Prohibitive ratios will be reached thanks to the use of the best available techniques (BAT). Due to the modernisation also the efficient exploitation of the power units will be prolonged to at least 2031.

Currently, in Kozienice the largest and the most modern 1,075 MW power unit in Europe is being constructed. The construction is also in progress of the Flue Gas Desulphurisation Plant IOS IV, which will guarantee the desulphurisation efficiency on the level of 93%.
