ENEA Wytwarzanie S.A. signed the largest energy contract in Poland
On 21 September at 14:00 in Świerże Górne ENEA Wytwarzanie S.A. and a consortium of the following companies: Hitachi Power Europe GmbH and Polimex – Mostostal S.A. signed a contract on the construction of a new power unit fired with bituminous coal. That will be the most modern unit operating on supercritical parameters with the capacity of 1,075 MW (gross) and efficiency of 45.6 per cent (net).
The new unit in Kozienice is the largest investment in progress of the Polish and European energy sector. Its cost amounts to around PLN 6.4 bln (gross). The construction is planned to be completed in H2 2017.
"The construction of the Kozienice unit is one of the numerous investments which will be realised by companies being under the control of the State Treasury necessary for ensuring energy security of Poland. The companies presently possess 70 per cent of the capacity installed in the power system. It is a guarantee for us of the security of energy supplies in Poland. The process of modernisation of the Polish power sector is commenced today in Kozienice" - says Mikołaj Budzanowski, Minister of the Treasury.
"The construction will be funded from own funds of the ENEA S.A. concern and its 10-year bond issue programme. The investment will significantly balance the generating capacities of the ENEA CG in relation to the demand of customers - recipients of electricity" - says Krzysztof Zborowski, President of the Board of ENEA Wytwarzanie S.A. and Vice-President of the Board of ENEA S.A.
"The new unit will increase the generation capacities of the power plant from Kozienice by so much as one thirds. We will reach the capacity of 4,000 MW. The most modern global technologies will be usedby the constructionand the unit will be equipped with ecological installations ensuring the security for the environment together with a possibility of extending it in the future with a carbon capture and storage installation (CCS)" – says Krzysztof Zborowski.
The new power unit in Kozienice is an impulse for the development of the electricity market and means new work places. The unit will employ from 1,000 to 2,500 employees depending on the investment realisation stage. After the completion of the construction with target operation around 300 employees will be employed.
